Our Pricing page lists every line item up front. This page explains, in plain language, what each one pays for — so nothing on your invoice is a surprise.
All prices are in Canadian Dollars (CAD)
Applies to any pickup or drop-off before 7:00 a.m. or after 7:00 p.m. on weekdays, or at any time on a weekend or holiday. Covers the premium for scheduling a driver outside normal working hours.
Only charged when a multi-day route requires your pet to stay overnight partway through the trip (typical on long trips that need more than one day of driving). Covers safe, supervised overnight housing before the trip continues the next day.
Covers everything a Canada–U.S. crossing requires, in one fee: preparing and verifying the CFIA export declaration on the Canadian side, USDA/APHIS import paperwork on the U.S. side, and the CDC Dog Import Form where it applies — plus driver time for the physical port-of-entry crossing and wait times with Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) & U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP). This replaces our former separate Customs Documentation fee. Third-party customs broker clearance is separate, billed as a pass-through and never marked up.
Covers getting your pet safely to the cargo/check-in area for their flight — coordinating with the airline's cargo counter timing, completing airline paperwork at the counter, and staying until your pet is officially accepted for the flight. This is a flat fee regardless of which international airport is used on either side of the border. It does not include the ground transport fare that gets your pet to the airport in the first place, or the airline's own pet fare — see Airport Pickup & Drop-off for the full picture.
Applies when a pickup location is a smoking household. Covers the extra vehicle cleaning needed between trips to keep the vehicle odor-free and comfortable for the next pet.
Charged once on every transport. Covers the initial handover of your pet, checking their travel documents, loading and securing their crate in the vehicle, and everything else required to keep your pet safe and comfortable before the wheels start turning.
One flat rate for every kilometre driven with your pet on board, from pickup to drop-off. There are no distance tiers, so a longer trip always costs a predictable amount more. For example, a 540 km trip is $783 for distance, plus the $30 base fee.
Every trip is a private, dedicated run, so once your pet is delivered our driver has to drive the empty vehicle back to where the trip started, your pickup location. We charge $0.73 per km for that return drive, the Canada Revenue Agency's standard vehicle rate, which covers the vehicle's running costs. For example, a trip with a 540 km drive back to the pickup location has a return charge of $394.20.
A meal allowance for the driver on multi-day trips. Our drivers work a maximum 13-hour day, with 2 of those hours set aside for inspection, loading, fueling and traffic, which leaves 11 hours of driving. We count the driver's return drive too, so a trip that needs more than 11 hours of driving in total is planned over multiple days, and the per diem is charged for each day from day 2 onward. There's no per diem on day 1. For example, a trip with about 15 hours of driving, including the return, takes 2 days, so the per diem is $45. It's a pass-through cost, not a markup, and sits below the CRA's non-taxable meal allowance limit.
Covers the driver's hotel for each overnight on a multi-day trip, including nights on the drive back. It's charged at the same number of days as the per diem: a 2-day trip has 1 night of lodging. This is separate from pet boarding, which only applies if your pet needs to stay overnight partway through their own journey.
Some pet transport pricing includes variable extras that only show up after you book. We don't do that:
Cancellation & Refund Policy — Cancellations must be submitted in writing before the scheduled pickup date. We refund 50% of your deposit and of any other payments made; the other 50% is forfeited to cover scheduling, administration and reserved capacity. No HST is charged on a deposit when you pay it — HST is charged on your final invoice. A forfeited amount is treated as including HST, as the Canada Revenue Agency requires.
